XFPs are 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable optical transceivers that are hot-swappable and protocol-independent. Useful applications include 10 Gigabit Ethernet, parallel optics links, dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) link and 10 Gigabit per second SONET/SDH.
